Film Synopsis
Hurtlocker
In this film we do not get to see the main protagonist until after the introduction scene. The films narrative is linear as there are no flashbacks to previous moments in the characters lives. This helps give the feeling of actually being there which is also done by camera movement while focusing on characters making the audience feel like they are watching through the eyes of a cameraman. The equalibriam is not changed in this movie as it starts off in a war and ends in it. Nothing is restored in this movie as there is no real beginning to the story or an end. The characters this movie focuses on in this movie are soldiers, the main one being sergent William James. When he is first introduced, he is seen to be very disrespectful but as the movie goes on we see him change and grow depressed with being in the war.
District 9
This movies protagonist (Wickus) is introduced near the beginning of the film and is portrayed as being an ignorant, careless jerk which makes him very unlikable. After he grows the alien arm, he changes. But this change is only because everyone is after him and not because he has a change of heart which means his character didn't develop very much. This movie has a linear storyline and also has camera movement which makes the audience feel like they are part of the movie. Unlike Hurtlocker, this movie has a clear ending to it when nobody knows the whereabouts of Wickus.
